This is what most kitchen floors look like when we get the call. Years of grease mopped into the grout, and it just gets darker no matter how often it's cleaned.

Why the grout keeps getting darker
Grout lines are the lowest point on the floor. Every time the floor gets mopped, the dirty water runs down into them and sits there. So the tile looks okay and the grout keeps getting darker. That's not your cleaners doing a bad job, it's just what a mop does.
We put a degreaser down, scrub the grout lines with a brush machine, rinse them out at a gentle pressure, and vacuum all of it up. The grease leaves in the tank instead of settling back into the lines.
One thing we'll say up front: we don't oversell this. If grout is so old and soaked through that cleaning won't do much, we'll tell you redoing the grout is the better move. Short of that, we've had really good luck with it.

A machine with a soft brush works down into the grout without scratching the tile.

Rinse at low pressure
Enough to flush the grout lines out, nowhere near enough to damage them.

Suck up the dirty water
Everything we loosened gets vacuumed off the floor instead of settling back in.

Strip old wax if there is any
If someone's been waxing the tile for years, we take that out of the grout too. Bigger job, and we'll tell you before we start.
